Dr. Sam Orach

He was born December 4th 1957 in Uganda and completed under-graduate training from Makerere University Medical School in 1983 and awarded Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBCHB) degree in Jan. 1984; he then obtained Master of Primary Health Care from Istituto Superiore di Sanita, Rome, Italy (1990). Dr. Sam Orach was a Hubert Humphrey Fellow at Emory University, Atlanta - Georgia (USA) 1999/2000 where he studied Health Policy and Management (Fellows Certificate) and has had other shorter trainings in health service management.
Dr. Sam Orochi Orach worked as Intern doctor in Lacor hospital in 1983/84; then continued as Medical Officer in the same hospital until April 30th 1997. On July 1st 1987 he started converting Nyapea dispensary and maternity centre into now Nyapea Hospital. He worked there for 14 years and was the Medical Superintendent for 101/2 years (March 1991 - Sept 2001). He was then appointed District Director of Health Services for the District of Nebbi from Sept 2001 to August 30th 2004 (exactly 3 years) when he retired from civil service. He served at Uganda Catholic Secretariat as Technical Advisor to the newly created Global Initiatives Fund Management Unit (GIFMU) from Sept. 2004 - December 31st 2005 and since January 1st 2006 he has served Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau in different capacities first as an Assistant Executive Secretary and as full Executive Secretary from 2009 todate.
