Project Name: ACT-(Aids Care & Treatment)
Project Status Ended (March 30th 2018

ACT-(Aids Care & Treatment) was a program funded by grant from CDC grant to support comprehensive HIV/AIDS services in 19 Catholic Health Care Facilities (HCF) and 15 lower level facilities located in the central, northern and western parts of Uganda. UCMB, the medical technical department of UEC was the lead implementor of the ACT Program supported by HIV Focal Point and Finance departments of UEC.
ACT was sequel to AIDS Relief-Uganda, a Track 1.0 Care  and Treatment program that was transitioned to the UEC.

The overall Goal of the project was to ensure “High quality accessible HIV services are provided in a strengthened and integrated health care system” The program had three strategic objectives;

  • To support Health care facilities provide quality HIV prevention services that promote and safeguard the health of targeted communities.
  • To support Health care facilities equitably provide quality HIV care, support and treatment services to targeted communities.
  • To strengthen health systems at HCF and local level that provides quality and integrated HIV services.
The project had established linkages with the Uganda Ministry of Health (MoH), districts, other Implementing Partners and community stakeholders in order to increase the services available to clients and their families. The project has supported HCFs with financial, material, and technical assistance to enable them implement project activities
