Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau

Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB) is the health office of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) in Uganda and the technical arm of the Health Commission of the Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC), carrying out its day to day operations.

The main (but not exclusive) focus in health of the RCC is in the presence of health care institutions. This corresponds to the historical heritage: quite a number of RCC Hospitals have reached and passed one century of life. These units offer a package of curative, preventive and promotional services as per their level and in line with the national health policy.

Our Impact

The RCC started health care services for the rural under-previlaged before independance in Uganda. At the moment it counts 33 hospitals (2 of them are specialised service providers) with 15 training schools, 2 laboratory training school and 264 Lower Lever Units (LLU), with over 10,319 health workers. These institutions constitute a sizeable component of the public health system in Uganda.
